After 30+ years of dedication, Shaun Miller has decided to announce his retirement from United Electronic Industries (UEI). As founder of the company, Shaun has built an amazing team and company that has outgrown multiple facilities (starting with the bedroom of his apartment) to become an industry leader in rugged, flexible DAQ and Control technology. His plans include spending time with family, exploring new business ventures and sailing around the world. Shaun’s last day with the company will be Friday, January 12, 2024 and a retirement celebration will be held in Norwood in his honor. Following January 12, he will be available to the business on a consulting basis. Please join me in congratulating Shaun. We wish him the best in the next chapter of his life!
With Shaun’s departure, I am pleased to announce that Andy Purtell has been appointed Division Vice President, Business Manager UEI. In this role, Andy will be responsible for the overall P&L for the business and its respective functional areas. He will be responsible for providing strategic direction and tactical guidance in the development and execution of UEI’s strategic plan.
Andy will continue to report directly to me. Andy’s commercial team at PPD/VTI will also report directly to me.
Since joining in 2019, Andy has held multiple commercial leadership roles across several businesses at AMETEK including Programmable Power, VTI, IntelliPower and Power Instruments. Prior to AMETEK, Andy held multiple leadership roles at United Technologies, successfully growing the business throughout his tenure. Andy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In addition, he has an MBA from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
